FAQ

[accordion_shortcode][accordion_item title="What is the schedule?"]We have three classes a week—each class is for two hours… See our schedule here [/accordion_item][/accordion_shortcode]

[accordion_shortcode][accordion_item title="How do I get started?"]If you want to study Kung Fu at the Wing Chun Society, it’s easy to get started. First, stop by the school on a Monday night and observe a class. While you’re there, you can ask any questions you may have about the system or the school and get a feel for the class. Then if you feel it is right for you, just register online and come to the next available class. There are no contracts to sign, so you are not locked in and can cancel at anytime. Try it! You have nothing to lose, a lot to gain, and you will get way more than your money’s worth![/accordion_item][/accordion_shortcode]

[accordion_shortcode][accordion_item title="I saw a class and it looks like everyone knows what they are doing. Where do I fit in?"]That is what everyone is thinking when they watch a class. Where do I fit in? Everyone looks like they got it and I am so new. Initially, everyone you saw in that class had those very same thoughts. In your first few classes, we get your feet moving, start introducing you to Wing Chun concepts and principles and let you try a few different aspects of the art. Then, we start from the beginning to make sure you truly understand what you are doing, why it works and the foundations of the Art. [/accordion_item][/accordion_shortcode]

[accordion_shortcode][accordion_item title="Do you have to be in good shape to get started?"]No, not at all. The excuse I often hear is that “I will come as soon as I get in shape”. No need to wait…we will get you in shape! Our classes is full of all different sizes, shapes and age ranges. There is no peer pressure, and your safety is of utmost importance. We will work at your level until you’re ready for the next level of instruction.[/accordion_item][/accordion_shortcode]

[accordion_shortcode][accordion_item title="What if you have an injury?"]Your physical well-being and health are our top priorities. If you have an injury simply notify Sifu. He will make sure you are well taken care of and instructed in a suitable training environment for your condition.[/accordion_item][/accordion_shortcode]

[accordion_shortcode][accordion_item title="Is there a uniform?"]Yes. We have a school shirt and black training pants.[/accordion_item][/accordion_shortcode]

[accordion_shortcode][accordion_item title="Do you have any training material?"]Yes. You will receive a student handbook that keeps you on track and works as a notebook. Additionally, Sifu Wahnish has written two books on Wing Chun and has a video series in production.[/accordion_item][/accordion_shortcode]

[accordion_shortcode][accordion_item title="Is there testing or grading?"]Training is centered around developing your own personal Kung Fu. Level certification is the ultimate way to constantly monitor your progress though the system. Level certifications are modified private lessons, making them an extremely rewarding and beneficial part of your training. We must continue to polish what we know even as we expand on it.

There is much more to the system than what is required to attain the level requirements. Reaching designated levels shows that you have attained information and skills that provide a foundation for development and progression. The framework of this Kung Fu program is like no other! We take pride in offering absolutely the best in Martial Arts training and education. The skills you learn here will be invaluable in the creation and enjoyment of a successful future both in and out of the Art. Following successful completion of every skill level test, you will be personally awarded with a Certificate of Achievement certifying your dedication to and proficiency in those skills and techniques.[/accordion_item][/accordion_shortcode]

[accordion_shortcode][accordion_item title="Is there sparring in class?"]Of course…when you’re ready you spar, that is! Students that have martial arts backgrounds and sparring experience are allowed to spar at the early stages. For new students with no experience, we want to teach you skills (like how not to get hit in the face!) before you start the sparring program. We make sparring something you will really enjoy and be comfortable with. Before you know it, you’ll be itching to bang![/accordion_item][/accordion_shortcode]

[accordion_shortcode][accordion_item title="What is that wooden thing?"]That is called a Mook Jong or wooden man. You can learn more about it here.[/accordion_item][/accordion_shortcode]
