Wing Chun Society Sparring Requirements:
• Sparring is allowed only with parental consent.
• Proper Safety Gear must be worn at all times.
• Sparring will only take place under the supervision of a qualified instructor.
The purpose of sparring is to practice the skills of distancing, entry, speed, footwork, punching, and kicking. In addition, sparring prepares you for real life confrontation by teaching you how to relax under pressure. Sparring is an exercise in relaxation and concentration not anger management.
We spar with a relaxed demeanor not a temper. Sparring is not a battle of egos; simply let your skill do the work. The point is to adapt the principles of Wing Chun into your sparring, not to try and knock your partner out. Never feel shy about asking your partner to power down or when your ready power up. Remember you and your sparring partner’s safety is of the utmost importance.
